January 2025: Move Better in the New Year

Take control of your movement and health this new year

Your health is important to you, otherwise you wouldn’t be here. 2025 is setting up to be an exciting year with new life joining my family. That’s right, we’re expecting a little boy some time in the next few weeks. This is both exciting and terrifying.

It’s exciting because new life is always amazing, challenging, life altering.

It’s terrifying because this world at times seems like a hot mess and a new being is being put into our charge.

I was telling a client last week, who’s chosen not to have children, that parenting is one of the most jacked up things to do in this world. You never feel like you’re doing it right. You always feel like you’re doing a terrible job. Even after learning something from one, you get a curveball from the next one. These little people are their own person and they react and behave differently. They test your patience in many ways. Just when you think you’ve figured it out, they do some other shit.

This client said that maybe the fact that you think you’re not doing it right is what makes you a better parent.

Honestly, that advice is universal. If you have the courage to question yourself, to question what you think you know, and never feel like you’re complete, then this means you’re working to be better.

If we put this into the context of what it is I do with coaching, it looks like this.

  1. I help clients build awareness first. When the you come to me, you’ve already had enough awareness of self and humility to know that you need help. My job from that point is to help you establish your Point A. We start by getting an understanding of your history and what has been a part of creating the systems in place for how you move. We cannot progress without acknowledging our history.

  2. Once we establish awareness we can begin to address constraints and limitations. We can begin to construct a better foundation. We can then progressively load and improve.

If we want to improve in 2025 we have to begin by acknowledging where we are and not be afraid to seek out what we need in regards to support.

4 Week Hip Mobility Challenge coming this February

My Four Week Mobility Challenges are returning in 2025.

In 2023 I ran Mobility Challenges that required participants to complete the 30 Days of Mobility Training. The programs served not only as a great entry point for anyone looking to begin a mobility training routine, but also gave insight into how to program your mobility work.

Stay tuned as I’ll be providing more information on the February Challenge and how you can join it in the upcoming weeks.

Paid Substack Subscribers will get 10% off the 30 Day Challenges using a special promo code.
