In this episode I give my background and experience with two things that most personal trainers don't consider when starting a new business. Those two things are Marketing and Your Brand!
Sales has never been my strong suit and I’ve always hated salesmen. It always felt like people wanted to use tricks and gimmicks just to get a sale. But I’ve always felt that if I’m selling something, that I don’t want to oversell and under-deliver. I want people to buy and not have remorse after the fact. This is one of the reasons I never worked big box gyms. All they care about is the bottom line. They don’t care about actually helping the client.
So for me I had to identify what I needed to do differently so that I was no longer selling.
I realized that since I work with a person one on one, that at the end of the day the client is buying my knowledge, expertise and the person I am.
So for me, I think that givers gain is the golden rule. The more you give, the more you gain in the end. If you approach things from a scarcity mindset then it’s most likely you don’t have enough to give. I’ve got over 20 years of experience and I can’t distill that over the course of a session or two. I can give you a ton of things to put into play immediately within my 30 minute consult sessions or even a paid assessment.
If a person values you as a person and realizes that you aren’t holding out on them then they are more likely to trust you. At the end of the day it’s about trust. I don’t want to work with anyone who I feel is teasing and stringing me along. So I let people know up front, that my training is not only about training, but about education.
We will take things slowly and progressively. You can’t do Calculus if you don’t know basic arithmetic. If you learn with me then you’ll have a better foundation and build a more robust training program. With the tools you gain from working with me, your perspective and approach will forever be changed.
I hope this short episode gives some insights to my approach.
