For years I’ve been saying that I need to write a book and for years people have told me, “you need to write at least one book”. I never thought that my stories and experiences mattered much outside of my own life. But as I’ve had time to reflect on my journey in life, from living in Korea and Thailand, to my travels and business endeavors, I realized maybe there’s something there.
I keep running it over and over in my mind…
Where should I start?
What should I write about?
What is the purpose or outcomes?
What will make people want to read any of it?
But if I never just start something then nothing will ever happen.
So I’m going to use my Substack as a place to begin drafting and putting the pieces together.
I’m going to try something that may or may not have ever been done. Instead of running a Kickstarter or something like this, I’m going to make these drafts available only to “Paid Subscribers”.
I think that having people who are invested in this process is super helpful to progress. I think that getting honest feedback from people who care and respect my writing enough to contribute to the process is a more valuable process than simply putting out to the entire world.
I’m also reminded of something that Warren Buffett said about his work to build Berkshire Hathaway. He says his motivation for getting up every morning to work at Berkshire Hathaway is that he gets to create something. He gets to be an artist that paints his own Picasso. And that he is charged with doing the best possible job of it because the people who matter most to him are all relying on him to make it happen.
I have no idea where this will all go, but I’ll be writing all of this under the Build-U section of the newsletter so make sure you’re subscribed to that.
As it will also be a part of my paid subscription, be sure to select the subscription that works best for you in order to be a part of this.
For all of you who are already a supporter, I wanna thank you in advance. I appreciate you all for your support!
