Don't Fall Off Your Mobility Training This October
Let's recap what you missed in September and what's happening this October
I’m sitting here in my office/my children’s room writing this to you at 9am this Monday morning. From the window I can look out onto my raised garden beds and garden landscape that I’ve spent most of this year laboring over. I can also see those damn white cabbage butterflies floating here and there, that love leaving their eggs on my cabbages and kale. I can’t stand those bastards. I’m too lazy to place netting, and I’ve tried to instead use companion planting of herbs to deter. Let me let you in on a little secret… It doesn’t really work well at all.
Anyhow, I’ve finally settled in with my cup of coffee from Raleigh North Carolina based roaster, Black & White Roaster. Yeah, I order coffee from all over because I’d like to think of myself as an amateur aficionado, but my wife might call me a snob about it. I love coffee and will go out of my way to find interesting bags from small roasters all over the country. Black is the only way to drink it. Fight me!!
It’s already 70 degrees on this early October day and despite the window being open wide, there’s zero breeze. I’m thinking about the time I spend in this chair, offering up a sacrifice of my Hips to God, for your sake. I’d like to consider myself your Mobility Messiah… LOL…
I mean, the evidence suggests that sitting for long periods can increase your risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, some cancers, and weight gain. But what I also know as a Mobility Coach is that it does one hell of a number on your hips.
Hip Flexors are shortened for long periods of time. The hips aren’t moved through their ranges of motion and when we don’t do anything to counter these long periods of sitting, it impacts on everything we do.
